 Special Student Services (SSS)
is a supplemental department of the Portales Municipal Schools (PMS) in Portales, New Mexico.  This department provides services to students, ages 3-21, who are identified as having a disability according to criteria set forth by the IDEA-B federal government regulations and the New Mexico Public Education Department (NMPED). 


Child Find Schedule 
If  your child is between the ages of 2 years 9 months to 
4 years old and you have concerns about your child's development in the areas of speech, vision, hearing, behavior, or understanding, you may call our office at   
to learn more about upcoming, scheduled events. 
Ongoing Child Find
Ongoing Child Find screening is for students
ages 3-21 years old whom parents suspect may have a developmental delay such as a speech delay, physical
delay, or social/emotional delay.

If you have concerns about your child's development in the areas of speech, vision, and hearing, behavior, or understanding, call Special Student Services at

or to discuss options available to you
for early intervention.

pertaining to public schools.  
We, also, practice social distancing at SSS.
