Enrollment

 This page is intended to assist parents or guardians with enrolling children for the first time in Portales Municipals Schools. Registration for the next school year is handled by each individual school. You will find below the documents needed to enroll a student, you may print these off and have them filled out when you arrive to expedite the enrollment process.

Free and Reduced lunch applications are available at each school when you enroll. These forms are vital to the operation of our district whether you desire to participate in the program or not. The Federal government uses these forms to set re-imbursement rates for school for telecommunications and technology. We ask that all parent/guardians return this form to assist in this process. You only need to fill out this form at one school for your entire family.

There are three items that are required to enroll a student in the Portales Municipal School District. These requirements are based on laws that must be followed to ensure the safety of your child.

  1. Original Birth Certificate
    • Power of Attorney is required if the student is being enrolled by someone other than the person listed on the birth certificate.
  2. Current Shot Record
    • Copy from previous school is acceptable

  • School Messenger is used in our district to contact parents/guardians in case of emergency and for many school announcements such as cancellations and delays. We must have a means to contact parents/guardians in an emergency.
