Inspection of Public Records (IPRA) Request

The Portales Municipal School District complies with the New Mexico Inspection of Public Records Act (NMSA 1978, Chapter 14, Article 2) and follows the procedures outlined in the New Mexico Attorney General’s IPRA Compliance Guide.

 


 

Notice of Right to Inspect Public Records

Under the Inspection of Public Records Act (IPRA), every person has the legal right to inspect public records maintained by CMSD. The district is responsible for making records in its possession, or for which it is the custodian, available for public inspection in a timely manner.

How to Request Public Records

Please follow the guidelines below when submitting an IPRA request:

What to Include in Your Request:

  • Your full name

  • Your phone number

  • Your mailing address (where requested documents will be sent)

  • A clear and specific description of the records you are requesting

    Note: Requests for justifications of actions or explanations are not considered valid under IPRA.
